ELLA'S FIRST BIRTHDAY ON EASTER

A year ago, Edwina and I were on our Caribbean Cruise. A year ago, Ella was born to Ritchelle and Beav. I just cannot believe how fast a year has come and gone. Went out of the box...zeroing in on cascaron and ubi. Emer was the DJ. He did a great job getting the Easter bunny out to pose with the kids for pics. They even had an Easter egg hunt outside. While glancing at the slide show of Ella, I can't help but reminisce Easters past in the confines of Knight's of Columbus Hall on first hill. I could still hear the mandolin/singing uncle the song about an Easter bonnet. I could even see Cy and Barb perform Tahitian dances. More importantly, I remember Mom and Dad grubbing down on a simple meal with Uncle Jimmy in the kitchen. Those are fond memories I will always cherish. Memories so vivid that help define who I am and what I am meant to be.

Last night, we saw the movie...Slumdog Millionaire. After seeing the gruesome conditions of growing up in the slums of Bumbai, living in America is definitely a piece of heaven. Never again will I pity myself in missing meaningless items that are donned treasures in the lives of dilapidated Indian youth...such as, missing a put for par while playing golf on a nice golf course. I am so thankful for what I have. Hopefully, I hope I could resurrect the spirit of commitment in bettering my community in an attempt to make the next generation aware of a rich and resilient legacy which we all can take pride in. Happy Easter. Peace to all.
